Botox at Belle Meade

Botox is a popular cosmetic procedure that can be used to treat wrinkles and fine lines. It can also be used to treat frown lines, crow's feet and forehead lines.

What is Botox?

Botox is a type of neurotoxin. It's used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and other signs of aging by paralyzing muscles in the face. Botox does not permanently remove wrinkles; rather, it smooths out their creases temporarily by relaxing facial muscles that cause them.

Botox isn't actually a drug--it's just a protein derived from botulism toxin produced by Clostridium botulinum bacteria found naturally in soil all over the world (therefore making it impossible for anyone who receives Botox injections at our facility ever having any chance whatsoever of getting sick). The Food & Drug Administration has approved Botox for both cosmetic purposes such as wrinkle reduction as well as therapeutic ones such as treating migraines or excessive underarm sweating; however there are no known side effects associated with either use!

How does Botox work?

Botox is a purified protein that blocks the nerve impulses that cause muscle contraction. It's injected into the muscle and works by blocking certain chemicals in your body from attaching to receptors on your nerves. This prevents those nerves from sending signals to your muscles, which then relaxes them and causes them to be less stiff or tight. Botox also goes by another name: botulinum toxin!

Botox is a prescription medication used for cosmetic purposes, but it can also be prescribed for medical reasons such as excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) or spasticity associated with cerebral palsy or MS.

How long does the effect of Botox last?

Botox is a temporary solution, and the effects of Botox are cumulative. The more you have, the longer it lasts. This means that if your first session lasted four months and your second lasted only two months, that's normal! You should expect to see an increase in longevity each time you get Botox injections.

It's important to remember that Botox isn't permanent — it can be repeated as often as necessary (ideally every three months).

Side effects of Botox

Botox is a safe and effective treatment for many conditions. However, there are some side effects associated with it that you should be aware of.

  • Temporary side effects may include:
  • Pain, redness or swelling at injection sites (usually mild)
  • Headache (slight)
  • Nausea (rare)
